Last night I saw fireworks going off in many of the subdivisions that lined the highway. Revelers in their backyards or frontyards lighting off a few to cap off a barbeque. It was a nice addition to the trip.
Tonight topped it. Heading toward Milwaukee from Racine there was a single moment on the overpass where I could see firework displays all along Lake Michigan - every town was having a show from Milwaukee to Chicago. It is moments like that which makes driving eight hours a day worthwhile.
